Frank Ochieng. The Machinedeftly handles humor and action in good balance. With the excellent script the spectacular sets and retro synthesizer score make it a fun science fiction film.
Deirdre Crimmins. With many writers and directors keen to give a look at a future ravaged by impending war, it's a breath of fresh air when someone shows an evolutionary leap towards harmony.
Jared Mobarak. The film is ambitious visually, in spite of its small budget, and while not all of the effects come off, it's hard to hold that against an indie production like this.

Written by Paul Threatt. I very much enjoyed this. There's nothing particularly novel about the story line, which is a standard AI old chestnut about what happens when AIs start getting rambunctious.
But the script is literate, the leads quite attractive especially Dennis Lawson as a baddie , the direction sharp, and the photography brilliant, so it's all eminently watchable.
Caity Lotz in particular is a revelation--she's great. Plus there's the fun wrinkle of watching the AI soldiers troop around, as it were, speaking their own language, wondering what they're saying although as the film goes on it starts becoming clear.

It actually got in the way. Production value was good. I wouldn't call this low budget. It has some sofisticated ideas played out well.

I am sure that I missed quite a lot the first time I watched it but I am confident that I will pick up as I go along.
As I say, this is a dark, strange tale but surprisingly engaging. The actors are convincing and the plot, though a little far fetched, is almost riveting.
I won't go into the plot's ins and outs, it is better for you to go in cold, but if you are a sci-fi enthusiast like me I don't think you will be disappointed.
A dark film, filmed mostly in the dark, as Britain under threat from China starts to build android soldiers.
The lead scientist- Toby Stephens - is aware of the downsides but has a very personal reason for wanting to develop some of the tech needed for the super soldier.
The plot wanders a bit but ends up where you always expected. An independent film that has all the panache of a big budget one. Being someone who loves technology and can't wait for implantable tech and AI, this film ticks all the boxes.
It could've been a bit more in depth, as I finished watching the film wanting more, feeling like there could've been a lot more put in to the script etc, but for a film I had never heard of until a week ago, it was pretty damn good.
AI is coming and it will take over from humans as the dominant species on this planet, and there's nothing we can do about it!
I got this film on a blind purchase, and for me its been one of the best sci-Fi films I have seen for a long time, and hope it is followed up.
The special effects while'st exceptionally good for a film made in the UK did not get in the way of the story-line as seems to be the flaw with most modern block busters.
