Adam Green stated that he would be writing and directing, depending on how long the other projects he was working on took.

He also stated that if the projects took too long, he would pass writing and directing duties on to someone else. In order to keep details under wraps, even the crew did not receive copies of the script and the majority of cast only received select pages.

Fake scripts, fake endings, and fake story lines were circulated around the industry and no visitors or guests were allowed near the set. The cast gathered for their first table reading on December 15, On November 24, , along with the announcement that Adam Green would return to write and direct, it was announced that Kane Hodder would reprise the role of Victor Crowley.

To accommodate Green's promotional duties for the film Frozen shooting had to be split into two parts. The first portion began shooting on January 7, and ended on January There is absolutely no way that movie should have gotten an NC All the gore in it is so ridiculous and over-the-top that you can't take it seriously.

It was a terrible, terrible loss when Hatchet came out in theaters. None of the fun stuff that people had been reading about for two years was in the movie anymore.

But the MPAA is notoriously hard on independent movies. It's a money thing with them. The studios pay the salaries, so they're willing to let things slide for studio movies.

I'm not slamming these movies — I like them. How is that possibly fair? It's a sham. The whole thing is a sham. This was the widest release of an unrated horror film since with Dawn of the Dead.

However, within hours, the movie started vanishing from various theatres. Within a couple of days, it was gone altogether.

One of the reasons to back up his claim was the fact that Hatchet II , the very first film pulled in such a short space of time, happened to be the widest theatrically-released unrated horror film in 25 years, while other films that were performing much worse financially, such as Chain Letter , were allowed to stay.

Green also expressed his concerns that he is now "a marked man", in terms of his relationship with the MPAA. And the ratings board, I'm sure, is very certain that we're not going to do any business and then they're going to say to everybody, 'You see what happens when you don't play by our rules?

When the DVD was released, the R-Rated cut had over 2 minutes of gore removed, including entire death scenes.

However, the film was also released unrated. Hatchet II has received negative reviews from critics. Director Adam Green originally stated that two more sequels would follow and is interested in a 3D sequel.

Green declined to helm the sequel himself, but he hand picked the director. On March 22, he stated on Twitter, a social networking website: "Starts shooting in about a month.

Last week I saw all 3 back to back and it could easily fit all these 3 movies into one full movie, I loved first movie, It's had gore, it some Nudity and it's some nice tongue in cheek moment that I loved everything about it!

In I could not wait to see Hatchet 2, I got hopes up little to high, cause, I didn't like, I found that it was tone down some bit, I found it less gory and it took while for movie to get going after the boring middle part and with no humour.

I didn't really get my hope for this one, Cause, I knew if I did , I would be disappointed by this.

For me Hatchet 3 I found just little more fun and a bit better then Hatchet 2. I loved the opening of the movie, that is one hell of way to start and I loved very gory opening in this movie.

I think movie a lot more better pace then second movie, there not many of Jump scenes in this movie like Number 2 and calmer scenes don't seem to drag on and I was not bored with this movie at all.

The side-plot of the movie could have been better but it okay and I really enjoyed the last few scenes in the movie. I loved those effect in the last few scenes, it was very gooey, I did not expect that but I did find little silly how it happened.

Improvement on second movie but I felt they were missing the some of the dark Humour that made first one a lot more fun. Looking for something to watch?

I don't even know what it was that made this film so much better than its prequel, because, essentially, they're the same exact film with very little that's actually different.

I wouldn't call this a parody of slasher films, but it does poke fun at some of the tropes. Like, for example, how a lot of these monsters keep coming back film after film, no matter how devastating an end they met in the previous film.

The film plays with that here and it's actually probably one of the more important elements of the film, in how you actually get rid of Victor Crowley.

While how they did end up getting rid of him might seem stupid, particularly considering everything that was done to him, it actually makes sense within the context of what the film is trying to do, so I had no problem with that.

Maybe I'm overrating the film, but I honestly had quite a bit of fun watching this film. It's not what you would call a great horror movie, and it was never actually meant to be one.

But as far as quick, doesn't overstay its welcome diversion, then it works pretty damn well to be honest.

Another reason I think I'm overrating this film is the fact that Sid Haig made an awesome cameo appearance in this film. His appearance definitely made the film a little bit better to me and, without him, it's very likely that I'd have given the film 2.

It's not that I didn't have fun, but Haig's appearance made the film better than it would've been without him. And it's not even a cameo that goes more than five minutes.

With that said, I think I still would've enjoyed the film in a more B-movie type of way, even if I didn't give it a good rating.

There's a lot of gore, duh, and it's obviously completely over-the-top, just what you would expect. The film is surprisingly well paced for this type of film.

Like there's a good balance of gore and 'story'. Not that there's honestly much of a story to speak of, but it is there and they find a good balance between those two elements to make sure that the film doesn't peak early.

So that was cool. The film, obviously, has its comedic elements and it's clear that this isn't meant to be taken seriously in the slightest.

So I enjoyed this movie. It's got good gore and good tongue-in-cheek tone. Hatchet fans will definitely enjoy this one.

It's a fun time. Jesse O Super Reviewer. Jan 04, Surprisingly better than than Hatchet 2. Hatchet 3 seems the return of Victor Crowley who after presumably killed by Marybeth, has resurrected because of a voodoo curse.

Marybeth is arrested as the suspect of the Honey Island Swamp masscare, at the same time a nosy journalist tells her the only way to break the curse is to give Crowley what he wants.

At the same time, police officers, paramedics and swat teams were sent to the swamp to find out what's happened after Crowley resurrected.

Bolder and Cheekier than the first two films, Hatchet 3 was a fun ride from the beginning to the end.

I really do hope Hatchet can become a franchise like Friday the 13th. Sylvester K Super Reviewer. He tried to give me.

Well, New Orleans PD. It's a fucking scalp. Honey Island Swamp. Are you trying to tell me. How many bodies did. No major injuries, huh?

You see how this could look. Crowley killed them all. Enough about Victor Crowley. Victor Crowley is. You suspected Victor Crowley of.

So you jumped in a. A ghost wiped out. You found out that. Now why would you do. I am telling you the truth.

Marybeth puts her arm through his bloody face, and he falls backwards onto the chainsaw, cutting him down the middle and in half.

After shooting Victor's head to make sure he is dead this time, Marybeth is satisfied. She walks back into the city, bloodied and disorientated.

She walks into the Jefferson Parish Police Department, immediately having guns drawn on her. Upon discovery of the twenty to thirty bodies at Honey Island Swamp, she is placed as the prime suspect in the murders by Sheriff Fowler Zach Galligan , even after telling him numerous times about the events of the last two films.

The Sheriff heads out to the swamp with the paramedics and fire department, leaving Deputy Winslow Robert Diago DoQui in charge of the station until he gets back.

Amanda Fowler Caroline Williams , the Sheriff's ex-wife, journalist and an expert about the legend of Victor Crowley, comes into the station to interview Marybeth about what happened, telling Marybeth she wants to help, otherwise Marybeth will be tried and executed for what happened at Honey Island Swamp.

After retelling the events of the previous two films to Amanda, Amanda tells her that Victor Crowley is a repeater, set to relive the night he died, looking for his father and that he will keep coming back unless he gets what he wants: his father.

She tells Marybeth that her father, Sampson Dunston, was the one that came up with the idea to start the fire many years ago and tried to get him to deliver Thomas Crowley's ashes to Victor over the past several years, only to be dismissed numerous times.

Since he's dead and she's Sampson's bloodline, only she can put an end to Victor Crowley. Marybeth doesn't believe her, continuously declaring that she killed Victor Crowley the night before.

At Honey Island Swamp, the body of Victor Crowley is bagged and tagged and put into the ambulance boat. When the paramedic, Randy Sean Whalen is distracted, Victor reanimates and blows Randy's head off with a defibrillator.

Deputy Hamilton Jason Trost goes to investigate and goes to the boat where Victor appears and kills him by hacking his head in half. Victor then kills about a dozen or so of the first response team four of them onscreen , leaving paramedic Andrew Parry Shen , and another paramedic alive.

Victor then escapes back to his house. Back at the station, upon hearing the medical team getting killed on the radio, Amanda convinces Deputy Winslow to let Marybeth out of jail and help her save everyone at Honey Island Swamp.

Hawes takes over the operation from Fowler and leads them to the Crowley house, where an officer is killed. Hawes tries tackling Crowley but is in turn pinned against the shed and has his skull and spine ripped out.

While Deputy Rick catches Victor's attention, Deputy Schneiderman Cody Blue Snider takes the opportunity to fire a rocket launcher at Crowley, but misses and hits Rick instead, killing him.

The resulting explosion blows up the Crowley house, destroying it and covering Victor in the rubble.

When Schneiderman begins to celebrate, Victor appears from the wreckage and throws a piece of rubble into Schneiderman's back.

He then proceeds to kills Schneiderman by ripping his arms off and drowning him in a puddle. Dougherty, Andrew and the Sheriff run for it. Before running, the Sheriff manages to slow Crowley down by shooting in the chest with a handgun.

When he declines to give up the ashes, Amanda holds him at gunpoint and leaves with the ashes. Back at Honey Island Swamp, the other paramedic is chased by Victor Crowley when he hides behind the canoe which is revealed to be the one from the first movie.

It is the canoe from the first film because there, Ben Joel David Moore , who is now revealed to still be alive, was in there, clinging to life with his left arm ripped off.

As he begs for help, Victor throws the hatchet at Ben, finally killing him. Before Victor can kill the paramedic, an alligator comes out of the swamp and pulls the paramedic into the swamp to his death.
