A good example of this is iTunes witht he Bonjour service running. I had terrible lag but managed to fix by changing the resolution settings for my graphics card as mentioned above.
I hate to speak too soon but, without changing any settings, sky go is reasonably reliable since last update. It takes a minute or two to settle down but is now useable.

What i I have concluded is that the laptop has been trying to effectively upscale the output from the laptop screen resolution and frame rate to the native on the 4K tv in real time hence the problem.
Running it at p50 will resolve any judder and the graphics card is already filling the remaining 25 frames for the progressive images per second your screen needs.
Not sure if this is the right thread but the app does not support widescreen displays and there are several features channels missing such as the "red button" option when Sky shows various football matches on it's red button.
Other than trying to stop people streaming it, Sky have not updated this app since it first appeared and it's still in the 'dark ages' on quality and service.
