Am August startete der Film in den deutschen Kinos. Wieder einmal wird sich ein aufgebrachter Mob empören, dass sich neben dem Monsterplätten auch dreisterweise Romantik einschleicht und die männlichen Charaktere teilweise androgyn daherkommen.
Halten wir uns aber vor Augen, dass dies nicht die Probleme sind und weder Twilight noch Chroniken der Unterwelt bessere Filme geworden wären, wenn ein kerliger Vin Diesel als Schattenjäger gecastet geworden wäre und somit ein normativeres Männerbild abgeliefert hätte.
Ob Matrix ähnliche Seherinnen, Silent Hill ähnliche Dämonen, flairige Soundeffekte oder kriegerische Schwertkämpfe zwischen Jace und genauso wahnsinnigem wie wahnsinnig brillantem Antagonisten Valentine Morgenstern, die das weibliche Publikum durchaus hypnotisieren dürften.
Dass Jonathan Rhys Meyers seinen Charakteren in der Vergangenheit über eine gänzlich surreale Art der Schauspielerei genauso viel ästhetischen Anmut, wie konfliktreiche Intensität und polarisierende Faszination verleihen konnte, sollte dabei hohe Erwartungen an seine Darbietung als Valentine gestellt haben.

Even the scene where Clary kisses one of her two wannabe-lovers is marred by the begrudging acknowledgment that yes, canned romance or no canned romance, when they kiss it starts to rain.
They're indoors at the time, so after the kiss, the boy-bait in question sheepishly explains that they were cooled down by fire sprinklers.

With that look-but-don't-look-for- those -reasons mentality in mind, it's no wonder that Jace and Clary only initially touch each other through a magical, water-based teleporter.

Jace \u0026 Clary / Heart by Heart (Mortal Instruments: City of Bones)I read this book before watching the film and i was apprehensive to see if they would get all the important things from the book into the film.
I think they did a very good job to get it all in, in just over two hours. Cast: I thought they cast this film perfectly and all the characters played there roles perfectly.
My favourite character from the book and film is Jace as he was so witty and he was really witty in the film which is good. Story line: The story in this film is all very cramped together as the book was quite big so i think the screenwriter done a good job fitting it all in the 2 hours.

This movie does suffer from an un-understandable story line at times, and it is not that unique, but it is fun when Clary finds out what she is.

The acting is okay, but the writing is awful and makes this feel like a Twilight Clone with magic. So I'll just chock this up as another badly-adapted young adult book series.
