I origninally saw this over 40 years ago in Europe, paid a lot for the video tapes in the s the digital is the exact same version. This is a lovely movie.

At times over the top, but thoroughly engaging. I've never seen Romy Schneider before. She was an astonishingly beautiful woman.

It's also interesting that her real-life mother, Magda Schneider, plays her mother in this movie. Do not take this for true history! It's what we would call a Hollywoodification, except it came from Europe, not Hollywood.

I watched this movie as a child in Germany and always loved it. I am happy that I was able to obtain it here. We watched this and the other Sissi movie to prepare for out trip to Vienna and then to Hungary.

In Hungary we visited Godollo, outside of Budapest, where she loved to spend time. It was an interesting story, well done, about a time and people we were not familiar with.
